How are you?
I’m glad to have you here. I can’t even tell you.
I’m so excited.
First of all, let’s start at the beginning. Tell me a little bit about you. Tell me what you’re doing and let’s talk about this awesome coaching program that you do that is called Calling in “The One.”
A little bit about me, I felt like my whole life has been lived to inform my work, what I’m doing and why I’m here existing on this planet at this moment. My whole life, I’ve been in tune with something bigger than me. I don’t know that I always knew what that meant, but I seem to have been in sync with some sort of guidance. We all have our stories. We’ve all gone through challenges from childhood forward and we find our way through. Somehow, I’ve always stayed connected to that voice and I’ve let that lead me to here. I’ve gone through a divorce. I’ve got married young and was married for over ten years and learned a lot through that experience.
You’re pretty young so you must have gotten married pretty young.
I learned a lot through that experience. What I learned the most was during the divorce. It gutted me and it brought out the worst in me. I saw what the shadow side of me had the potential to do. I quickly realized that I needed to do some work. That’s what I’ve done. Since my divorce, I’ve committed to owning my stuff and figuring out how to be the best version of me that I can be. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that it’s a choice. When I went through my divorce, I don’t think I understood that we have a choice. No matter what gets thrown at you, you get to choose to do it in a way that's loving, expansive and generative. Click To Tweet
It’s a choice and all of the power is in us. Honestly, when I look back and think about the way I showed up and the mistakes I made, I didn’t realize I had a choice. I was living in my emotions and out of control that I didn’t even know that there was a choice. That’s the biggest thing I want to help people understand and learn. It’s a choice. Every second, moment and decision, no matter what gets thrown at you, and things will get thrown at you, you get to choose to do it in a way that’s loving, expansive and generative. It allows you to show up as the best version of you.
That is so important, Jen. I love that approach that you take because many of us get caught up in the fact that we don’t have choices of what are we going to do and where are we going to go. I love your energy and how you come at it with, “It is a choice.”
Like most women who’ve gone through a divorce, it was a pivotal moment for me. It changed my life. As much as it was awful and it’s gut-wrenching. I look back now and I’m so grateful for it. It truly did allow me to pivot in my life in a way that now I am aligned with who I am, why I’m here and the highest version of myself. I’ve grown into my own courage, my willingness to put myself out there, my vulnerability and all of that. My desire to continue to expand and be as much as I can be while I am here.
You stepped into this fantastic program which you are coaching with. It’s called Calling in “The One.” Explain that.
I have a background. I have a Master’s in Social Work and I have a few coaching certifications that I’ve gathered throughout my many years. I am a lifelong learner. I love learning. If I could go to school and get paid to do it, I would. For me personally and from what I’ve seen with my clients, Calling in “The One” has been the most life-changing and transformative method that I have ever been honored to partake in as a client and as a coach. Calling in “The One” was created by Katherine Woodward Thomas. It was a method she created in her own life to call in her person years ago.
Her experience has transformed into a coaching method that allows you to identify whatever obstacles or blocks that are getting in your way. We all know that feeling when we feel like we’re stuck. There are particular reasons why we feel like we’re stuck. There are things that we can identify and we can transform. Once we’re able to identify those blocks and then transform them, we can start to stand in this place of self-responsibility, being generative, making choices, owning our own happiness and taking courageous action. All of these things allow us to create our desired life as opposed to waiting for life to live us.
This is a program that your clients can work with you as a coach.
I combined my own holistic coaching because I’m a health coach as well. I bring it all in. I am a yoga teacher certified. I’ve done a lot of work with meditation and learning the whole mindset around yoga. I bring that in. I bring in the health piece and Katherine’s work, Calling in “The One.” I combined that and I work with my clients using all of those methods together and help them to truly create miracles. I love it when I have a client come on and they’re bubbling over. They’re seeing that life looks different around them. People are saying to them, “You’re so different. What are you doing?” People that inspire them or light them up are now showing up in their lives. They’re manifesting opportunities and their person shows up. They’re dating in a different way because they’ve learned how to fall in love with themselves and expand their own hearts. It’s inspiring for me and it’s amazing. I get to do the best job in the whole wide world.
I feel the same way. I’m like, “This is awesome.” Sometimes I feel like I could use you.
Excerpts from the Heart of a Mom
Can’t we all?
I’m constantly helping others and coaches need coaches. I’m like, “Wouldn’t that be nice if I could have you?”
I always say that I always need to be coaching. If we want to continue to expand and be the best we want to be in whatever. Whether it’s love, relationships, career and parenting. We need somebody who’s walked the path before us who can help us see our blind spots. We don’t know what we don’t know. Why not constantly up-level and become more.
That’s a great phrase, up-level. Sometimes as I’m listening to you and I think to myself, I get my guests on the show. You feel the same way with your podcast, your guests give you so much knowledge. I get off the show and I’m like, “I wish I could get more of you.” You have so much knowledge to share. Sometimes, I get so overwhelmed that I feel that a coach like you could keep me centered and organized in my thoughts.
What happens is we all have these patterns. We all have these stories in our heads, these internal voices and internal patterns that run. If we’re not aware of them, if we don’t hear them or see them, they are controlling our lives. We start to get in our own way and self-sabotage ourselves. We can not only identify those patterns, beliefs and stories, we can transform them into not something out there. Sometimes we think it’s outside of us, but when we can connect with what we know in our hearts and soul. It’s different for everyone. There’s no right or wrong way. There’s only the way of your desires and your heart. When you can connect with your truth and your story and start living and showing up from that place, that’s it right there. Forget the world. You are empowered to live the life and create whatever love and life you desire.
Let’s use me as an example. It’s hard for me and I can’t do that by myself. I don’t know but you are spot on. Sometimes, it takes someone with your training to be able to manifest and help me to do that. I’m a divorce coach. I don’t know how to do that stuff. I need someone that has this exact type of specific training to get that special you and uniqueness out of me. It’s phenomenal what you’re doing. All of it are combined, the transformation that you do, the whole mind, body and spirit together.
It’s all connected. We have different parts of us and you can hear it. When you hear one part of you saying one thing and another part of you saying another thing. When we’re able to see ourselves as an integrated whole being, then we are sourcing our power and what’s possible.
I have a hard time with that. That’s why you’d be so great for me.
I am a continual client and learner of this program because I believe in the power of it. It’s the most powerful work I’ve done personally by far.If we want to continue to expand and be the best we want to be, we need somebody who's walked the path before us to help. Click To Tweet
People from all over the country can find you in Zoom and everything.
Everything on the phone and I do that for a reason. There is a lot of intuitive and energetic connection that happens with two people. When I can feel into a person, hear their tone of voice and hear when their voice drops, shifts or moves into a more childish tonality. It allows me to connect with them in a more energetic way and less of that human interaction of seeing each other’s skin, face and features. I do everything on the phone.
That’s unique and different. Your energy is amazing. It’s calming. I’m hyped up. We’ve had many interactions. People who get on my show are like, “Your energy is so great,” but you’re so calming, which is so nice. I love your space. You’re positive. Tell people about your podcast.
I do host a podcast that is branded by Worthy.com and it’s called Divorce and Other Things You Can Handle. I get to do what you do. I get to interview amazing people and experts in any field that speaks to women claiming, owning and standing in their worth. It’s awesome and it’s wonderful. It’s the best.
I’ve listened and you have some great guests and you’re great at what you do as well. I love connecting with you. Everything you do is great. You are also a writer. We have a lot in common, Jenn.
I know. I write. That’s where all of my creativity goes. I keep saying I want to start learning how to paint or something, but I can’t even draw a stick figure person. All of my creative energy goes into writing, scripting, making and creating copy, and all that stuff. For me, I want to be a voice in all of the noise and put something good out into the world. It allows people to not only see but to be willing to step into what’s possible. Everything and anything is possible. It’s all within us. We get to create, decide and make it happen. I want people not only buy into it, but believe it and learn how to do it.
It’s not about just drinking the Kool-Aid. It’s about believing in the drink that you’re drinking. I have many clients and friends that are in that the negative space where they can’t get out of that post-divorce trauma. They’re still stuck and I wish they would call you. I’m going to give some people your number. I feel sad. It’s difficult and traumatic, but I feel that it is a choice. Don’t you think that?
We both have been through a divorce. There is a grace period. There is a period where you need to fall apart. There’s that period of grief, mourning, hurt, pain and whatever that looks for you. There is a point where enough is enough. I had that moment where I remembered shooting up in my bed and thinking, “What am I doing? Enough is enough. Screw this, I’m done. I can’t do this anymore.” It’s almost like you’re coming out of a fog or something. When you have the moment where you feel yourself lift out of that fog, you have to find a way to get into action. Whatever that is for you, you have to have the courage to walk into the pain. The other side of that is the bliss.
I tell people that I made a career out of my divorce. I took this awful disaster and I had to do something. I had no choice and I started a blog. That’s where I started writing and it was cathartic for me. I don’t know what else to do. If I don’t do this, I’m going to stay in this bed all day long. How did you start? Was it your blogging and then you started this program with Katherine?
Access Your Internal Power: There is a grace period in a divorce where you need to fall apart. There’s a period of grief, mourning, hurt, and pain. There is also a point where enough is enough.
I went through my divorce years ago. It’s been a while. A year or so in, I started blogging. I wrote my way up to my divorce. I started getting in touch with what was under the fear and under that feeling of, “I can’t leave this marriage. I have to stay.” I wrote to get in touch with what my deeper truth was and I continued writing. About a year later, I started blogging. I started gathering different coaching certificates. I kept joking, “I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.” I kept gathering things but the truth is, I love learning and I will probably until the day I leave this planet be in some program learning something else because it’s fun.
I have to be honest that your work is inspiring. You have great energy and I love reading what you do. I love stalking you a little bit. I’m glad that we were able to collab and do this good stuff. Where is the easiest place we can find you?
